We’ve adapted our Positive Transitions Service in light of the coronavirus outbreak, to continue to support children, young people and families online.
What is the Positive Transitions Service?
The Positive Transitions Service supports children, young people and their families through primary and secondary school across Edinburgh and East Lothian.
All Aboard is a canal-side venture that seeks to run a boat from the Polwarth Pontoon. In partnership with Polwarth Parish Church we aim to:
- Host our Positive Transitions Service, working with young people and their families in partner schools across Edinburgh
- Enhance our other projects, creating opportunities to learn, grow and socialise outdoors, experiencing something new and exciting while increasing confidence and participating in the community
- Provide opportunities for individuals to gain volunteering or work experience
- Increase positive engagement with The Union Canal through cultural, social and spiritual events
- Develop intergenerational community cohesion with a model of gathering, sharing, doing and celebrating together

Outdoor Journeys offers young people in the North East locality of Edinburgh the opportunity to learn about their surroundings, and connect with nature and the place they live outside the classroom setting, increasing confidence and wellbeing.

Pupils Know How...
Listening to schools - Pupils Know How is a series of groups for children and young people run across Edinburgh and East Lothian. The groups are adapted to individual groups or schools and their pupils. Each group is designed from the experiences and input of young people themselves, based on aims identified during our work with them. Themes can range from art, transitions, science or solving riddles and mysteries!
Mythical Mystery Squad - A riddle-solving adventure
The Mythical Mystery Squad are on an adventure to unravel riddles across Scotland! Together we’ll answer riddles, solve clues and embark on a magical journey! The club supports groups of P7s preparing to attend the same high school.
Young Artists Club - Exploring art and creativity
We’re inviting young artists to come together online for weekly arts and crafts sessions. This free online club for P6-P7s meets once a week and explores the world of art including different techniques, movements and styles! Materials are sent to each artist, so they can let their creativity run free!
Transitions Club - Support for P7s during Coronavirus
Transitions Club provides support for P7s who will be starting secondary school this year. The aim of the club is to give young people an opportunity to discuss different topics in a safe space through fun activities like creating custom comics, playing games and creating stories!
These groups are currently being held online due to Coronavirus.
As these groups are tailored to each school, each is specific to the young people who have designed it. We are fully open to developing similar or completely new groups in other schools, if you are interested in this please get in touch.
