Indoor Monthly Meetings...
Friendly, welcoming community group that enjoy learning about natural history and meeting new people.
Invited speakers and talks are followed by discussion and tea/coffee and biscuits.
The frequency of meetings depends upon the time of year and whether or not they are indoor or outdoor. In summer we meet about 8 times a month, but in winter perhaps 2 or 3 times.
All indoor meetings commence at 7:30pm and are held at The Guide Hall, 33 Melville Street, Edinburgh, EH3 7JF.
The field trips are probably the most popular activity organised by the Society. They range from evening meetings in or close to Edinburgh, to half or whole day walks at the weekend, and weekends or longer periods away. Although many excursions are devoted mainly to one particular branch of natural history, members with general interests are always welcome.
The field trips are particularly valuable for beginners, as an opportunity to get "hands on" experience of finding and identifying wildlife in the field, and in particular to benefit from the help offered by any experts who may be attending the walk.
Examples of previous field trips:
- Moncrieffe Hill
- Firth and Auchendinny
- Beecraigs Walk
- Lochore Country Park
There is no charge for attendance.
