The Digital Skills Academy was formed by Cre8te Opportunities to offer FREE computer training for unemployed people in the community who want to learn IT skills.
The Digital Skills Academy is a project developed by in collaboration with City of Edinburgh Council and Job Centre Plus to address a gap in IT skills.
We want to make sure everyone has the chance to enjoy the benefits of digital technology and give them the confidence to use it to improve their lives.
The Digital Skills Academy was developed by Cre8te Opportunities Limited in collaboration with the City of Edinburgh Council and the Department of Work and Pensions to address a need to ensure that no-one is left behind in an increasingly digital age.
Improving people’s skills to use computers and the internet means they can search for jobs, find cheaper services and
goods and get information on subjects they are interested in.
For many the lack of access to the Internet in their homes, coupled with a lack of basic digital literacy skills, leaves individuals with the inability to engage in our information economy. In an economy that demands you find a job online and possess at least limited online skills, we are leaving millions behind.
The Digital Skills Academy concentrates on helping people keep up with the new digital era. We engage with individuals, work closely with support agencies and local social enterprises to help participants gain new skills and achieve employment.
It is aimed at unemployed people who are not on the work programme or people who work less than 16 hours per week.
