Art appreciation for adult dementia sufferers and their carers.
What is Art in the City?
We are a friendly, diverse group of people who meet once each month to visit art galleries (and sometimes museums and historic buildings).
Art in the City provides an opportunity for people whose lives are affected by dementia to share a gallery visit and discuss art (and other things) in a friendly and supportive environment.
Who can come?
Anyone who is interested and whose life is affected by dementia. We encourage people to come along with a relative, friend, or supporter. We particularly welcome people attending with their carers.
There are contact details overleaf if you’d like to find out more before you come along.
Unfortunately we are unable to provide transport to the sessions.
What do we do?
We meet at 10:30am, and have coffee/tea and a chat together. At about 11:00am we start our session - looking at our chosen exhibition/theme for the morning. We finish at 12:00pm.
Where do we meet?
We meet in a variety of galleries. Please check the programme each month to make sure you come to the right place!
At The City Art Centre we meet in the seminar room on the 5th floor – and there is a lift!
We meet on the second Thursday of the month at 10:30am - 12:00pm.
The group is run by the Social Care Department with an input from Alzheimer Scotland.
