information SERVICE DETAILS

LOVE Gorgie Farm is operated by LOVE Learning, an education and social care charity. It provides children and young adults with new and innovative ways to engage them in learning and deliver a pathway to inclusion and attainment even for the most vulnerable in our society.

Our Education Hub is an alternative learning environment where we offer a range of educational services for children and young adults who need an extra bit of help in their learning journey and for schools to use as an experimental and outdoor learning setting.

CHILDREN

Our educational offering is person centred and tailored to suit each child’s needs. Sessions can be booked in bulk or as a one-off booking as required.

- One-to-one sessions in line with curriculum for excellence and SQA qualifications.
- Smaller group settings, which are particularly beneficial for children that may not be able to fully engage in mainstream educational settings.
- Complimentary sessions to children who are looked after

SCHOOLS

We offer an alternative classroom setting for schools to utilise the farm for experiential play, outdoor learning, meet the animals and many more.

We have experience working with schools across Edinburgh and the Lothians and provide tailored services to respond to the requirements of all establishments, such as nurseries, primary and secondary schools, special schools and children’s houses.

BENEFITS INCLUDE

- Engaging with pupils and providing interventions to reduce exclusion
- Improve behaviour and reduce harmful behaviour
- Increase attendance and raise attainment in educational areas for targeted groups of children

MISSION AND EDUCATIONAL VALUES

Our mission is to engage with pupils and provide a holistic approach to inclusion, empowerment, education and employability through a partnership working approach with key organisations to ensure that vulnerable children have access to the highest levels of support in all areas of our service delivery.

We recognise that all people have different learning styles and that their age and stage of development can be affected by trauma or the experiences that they are exposed to.

- 1-2-1 support for each pupil on their areas/topics of interest. We encourage and support pupils to apply the learning achieved outside the school environment to their learning in school.
- Person-centred approach to develop and enhance skills for assessing improved attainment.
- SQA centre with an evidence and trauma led approach to working with vulnerable young people.
- Experienced with ASN and Mental Health issues, we work with youngsters who have ASN or who are vulnerable for a variety of reasons linked to social, behavioural and emotional factors which lead to issues such as offending, aggression, anxiety and mental health issues.
- Community focused by accessing and involving individuals and families in local groups, activities and services which will provide a longer-term network of support.
