information SERVICE DETAILS

Everyone needs a safe, warm place to call ‘home’. Home is where we feel safe and secure. Home provides a sense of belonging. Home supports our physical and emotional health and wellbeing. Having a home is a basic human right.

Our supports are...

Developed in line with the Scottish Government’s ending homelessness together strategy, and our person-centred approach supports people to manage and maintain their home and thereby prevents homelessness.

Our support always starts with co-creating a support plan that is unique to each person and captures their individual requirements, current situation and desired personal outcomes. But peoples’ desired outcomes change over time and support needs do not always reduce linearly. We react, adapt and adjust as people’s lives change.

Whilst each person’s support is unique, there are common themes around which people seek support to bring some consistency and stability to their lives:

- Home building, such as sourcing furniture, understanding tenancy responsibilities, and door management
- Improving finances and controlling debts, including budgeting, income maximisation and access to welfare support
- Improving physical and mental health and wellbeing
- Building positive neighbourly relationships
- Planning for the future, including increasing circles of support and seeking sustainable employment

We aim to...
Support each person to develop new skills, enabling them to manage their own lives and home environment, increasing their self-esteem, skill-base and wellbeing; read how we supported Gordon to do just this.

We achieve this by...

Identifying goals with each person and adopting a “do with” method, rather than “do for”; workers model a task or undertake tasks alongside the person, enabling them to learn how to do things safely and independently.

We are tenacious and do not give up on people.
Our specially trained practitioners have considerable experience and skills in developing strong support relationships, breaking down barriers and positively persisting with people to ensure they are informed, engaged and active citizens in their home and community.
