Edinburgh City Mission shares the gospel of Jesus Christ in words and action, and engages in poverty relief among the inhabitants of Edinburgh, particularly in deprived communities.
The Mission's flagship programme is Basics Banks, a network of eight partner church-based food banks throughout Edinburgh and in Musselburgh. The Basics Banks provide resources for people who are struggling to afford basic necessities.
We have a team of six outreach workers who work all across Edinburgh with local churches, strengthening their community engagement activities and mission work, particularly churches who are supporting people from Edinburgh's most deprived communities.
Edinburgh City Mission partners with: Bethany Christian Trust in managing the Care Van and with forty Edinburgh churches who provide volunteer teams to run the van 363 evenings a year; Christians Against Poverty (CAP) running church-based Life Skills courses; and The Salvation Army, providing debt help.
