information SERVICE DETAILS

There are often additional complex healthcare issues for a child in kinship care, for example, around birth parents’ mental health, fear of inherited conditions, challenges relating to consent and confidentiality and interfamilial tensions relating to the child coming into care in the first place. These workshops help support carers to manage the care.

Do you have a relative’s child living with you (Kinship Care) in a formal or voluntary arrangement?

Do you have any questions relating to the child’s healthcare?

Our workshops are here to help!

Workshop topics:

- Managing the healthcare needs and rights of children in care
- Mental health and wellbeing for children in care
- Consent and Confidentiality
- Dental, Medical and Hospital procedures using play to help children cope with treatment and pain
- Getting it right for Looked After Disabled Children and those with complex healthcare needs

We can also design bespoke training around your group’s specific needs and interests.

Training arrangements

- Where? At your group’s usual meeting place/carers centre
- When? At a time to suit your carers
- How long? Session lengths vary according to the topic
- Costs? Free of charge

For more information and to arrange your training sessions, please contact: Anne Wilson, Head of Development Children’s Health Scotland.
