Student Survivors Project...
A partnership between Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre, University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh Napier University, Heriot Watt University, and Queen Margaret University.
The Student Survivors project offers on-campus and remote counselling support to university students of all ages and genders who have experienced sexual violence at any time in their lives.
What we offer
Short term support: We offer six sessions of one-to-one counselling support. We can work with whatever you want to discuss during your sessions and you don’t need to go into detail about what has happened to you unless you want to. Some of the things we can offer help with include:
- Learning about the impacts of trauma
- Identifying and managing your triggers
- Finding ways to look after yourself
- Advocating on your behalf, within the university or out with
- Putting you in touch with additional support
Longer term support: If you need more in-depth support, there is the option of having a further 16 sessions with a dedicated worker. These sessions will give you a safe space to explore the impact of your experiences on your life.
Getting in touch and referrals
If you are currently enrolled as a student at University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh Napier University, Heriot Watt University or Queen Margaret University you can refer yourself for support by emailing studentsurvivors@ercc.scot. You can also be referred with your permission through your university’s well-being and counselling services.
