information SERVICE DETAILS

What are my rights if my health impacts my income?

CAE works in partnership with the NHS Lothian Health Promotion Service to deliver advice in Edinburgh’s two main hospitals – the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and the Western General Hospital.

We can all need advice at times, but rarely more so than when our health suddenly changes. An illness or operation can affect our ability to work, our housing, relationships, benefit entitlement and plans for the future. At these times it is vital to access help - and for advice to be available quickly and conveniently. The Welfare Rights & Health Project ensures that you can access advice and support quickly, whilst you are still in hospital. This can stop problems from escalating and reduce stress and worry.

The Welfare Rights & Health Project is a partnership between CAE and NHS Lothian which brings advice into the acute sector.

Our Advisers offer the same broad range of free, independent, impartial and confidential advice which is available in our bureaux. If we can’t advise you on your issue, we will be able to refer you to a specialist who can.

THE SERVICE IS OPEN TO ALL PATIENTS, CARERS AND STAFF AT BOTH HOSPITALS.

To access support simply talk to the staff on your ward, or contact the service directly by phone:
