information SERVICE DETAILS

Back on Track was established in February 2022, in response to local needs.

We offer the following services across the High School catchments of Liberton and Gracemount.

Family Support for Primary School Children...

Family Support provides practical and emotional support. This service is offered to families with children at primary school. Help is offered with a range of activities including filling in forms, identifying and accessing useful services or accompanying someone to meetings.

Support can last for a maximum for 6 months

Sleep Advice for Primary School Children...

Sleep experts recommend that primary school children should get between 9 & 11 hours sleep each night. Many parent/carers can experience difficulty either in persuading their children to go to sleep at an appropriate time or in returning them to their own beds when they wake during the night. These problems can be difficult to resolve but our Sleep Practitioner Service can offer advice and support intended to improve things for both children and their parent/carers

Art Therapy for Primary School Children...

Art therapy is a form of therapy that uses art materials as a way of allowing people to express their thoughts and feelings in a safe space without the need for talking. We provide art therapy to primary school aged children who may find difficulties in their emotional, social and mental health wellbeing. We aim to allow children to grow in confidence and increase an understanding of themselves and how they feel. This would involve up to 18 sessions, once a week, at a school or in a community setting.

Adult Counselling...

People go to counselling for a whole range of reasons, including learning more about themselves, processing life events, talking about relationships without judgement and to feel seen and heard.

Parents and carers can access our counselling service for one-to-one support. Parents and carers can face a unique set of challenges and find it hard to make time for themselves, or to get the support that they need.

Counselling provides a safe and confidential space for you to talk about your issues and concerns and to explore your hopes and goals and changes you would like to make. Your counsellor will treat you as the expert on yourself, as no-one else knows exactly what it’s like to be you. They will not judge you, no matter what you bring to the session.

You can access 12 sessions

Young Persons Counselling...

This is a space to help you explore and reflect on things that feel important to you in a way that suits you best. Sometimes it can be hard to know what to talk about or where to start, but our counsellors are there to help you find a way to tell your story and find new ways of coping – whether this is through making art, creative activities, games or talking.
Together we will decide whether your sessions will be in school, at Goodtrees Neighbourhood Centre or at Valley Park Community Centre, but they will always be private, and it will always be your choice whether you attend.

You can have up to 18 sessions.
