information SERVICE DETAILS

From 1 October 2021 we are now back to physical/hybrid meetings.

Visitors always welcome.

We aim to have something happening at least three times a month. The first Friday of each month will be a hybrid meeting at 7:30pm at the Augustine United Church, George IV Bridge, Edinburgh. This will also be broadcast on Zoom for ASE members and YouTube for visitors. Our second talk, sometime around the middle of the month, will just be on Zoom and YouTube. We also have the monthly Imaging & Observing Group meetings for ASE members on the Wednesday after the first monthly meeting.

Because of the popularity of our meetings, visitors must register for a free ticket on Eventbrite as visitor spaces are limited (usually about 75). Members need not register.

The first meeting of each month features: a main talk by a guest speaker on a topic of general interest, a preview of the month’s night sky, a Society news update, an overview of astronomy and space news, and sometimes short presentations by members. Meetings are held every month apart from in August – usually on the first Friday of the month at 7:30pm. Non-members are always welcome to these meetings, which take place at the Augustine United Church Centre, George IV Bridge, Edinburgh. We hold our Annual General Meeting at the end of the June meeting.

The Imaging & Observing Group meets regularly and this is for members only.

Occasionally, we also run, participate in, or sponsor events for the public. Check the events calendar for details of any upcoming events.

The main series of meetings held by the Astronomical Society of Edinburgh are its Ordinary Meetings, which feature a main talk by a guest speaker on a topic of general interest.

The main talk is often preceded by short presentations by members, a preview of the month's night sky, a Society news update, an overview of astronomy and space news

Ordinary Meetings are held monthly on the first or second Friday of the month.

Non-members are welcome to these meetings, which take place at the Augustine Church Centre.

Admission is free, for members and non-members.
