Learning Centre

At Rowan Alba communication is key to delivering supportive relationships across all of our services. We offer training and coaching based on our working practices. Available to private and third sector organisations of any size, these informative sessions will introduce your team to unique insights gathered by our staff in their work and lived experiences.

Developing your trauma skilled practice...

In line with the Trauma Skilled practice level of the Scottish Transforming Psychological Trauma Framework, Developing your trauma skilled practice is designed to:

- Increase learners’ understanding of traumatic events and the different ways that people can be affected by them and
- Help learners recognise where the impact of trauma might influence their work with people affected by trauma

Our training is delivered by our highly experienced community alcohol-related damage workers. The session can be delivered by zoom, at our offices or at your premises.

The basic cost for this Full Day session is £350 for a maximum of 10 people. Venue hire is not included in this cost.

Developing your trauma skilled practice...

In collaboration with Alcohol Change’s Blue Light Project Rowan Alba’s CARDS have created a full day training session aimed at supporting practitioners to manage problematic alcohol use. This short session is delivered by our staff and gives trainees the practical skills and knowledge to respond to challenging behaviour and high risk, change resistant drinkers.

By the end of the course participants will build an understanding of:

- Risks associated with intoxication
- Difficult Dangerous and Disturbing Behaviour
- Risk Assessment and Monitoring
- Protecting and Improving Public Health
- Formulate a realistic intervention plan for a change resistant drinker
