information SERVICE DETAILS

Granton Youth have received funding through the Communities Mental Health & Wellbeing Fund to provide the following services:

A holistic service comprising of three specific/overlapping elements to support/improve the mental health and wellbeing of young people and their families. Looking at three key areas mental/physical/social health, through:

Non time-limited counselling...

Previously this has been provided for young people but we would like to extend the service to support their parents. GY has been counselling young people since 2008 and our evaluations and experience inform us that parental mental ill health has a negative impact on the young people in their care. This has informed our latest project to support families in a holistic way and this funding would allow us to offer parents counselling as part of this service. Creating improved mental health throughout the family.

Mentoring...

Build life/social skills/confidence through supported engagement/participation using a mentoring approach.

Outdoor Activities...

For those young people who are experiencing low mood or anxiety but who are not ready to participate in therapy, building physical activity and opportunities to take part in new activities in outdoor settings to build confidence and support improved mental health and wellbeing.

Activities include walking, cycling, orienteering, water-based activities etc.

The Outdoor Pursuits group runs on a Friday afternoon.

Please email richard@grantonyouth.com if you are interested in joining us! Spaces are limited!

All services are suitable for young people and their families, living in North Edinburgh.
