Why foster with us?

Are you passionate about making a difference for children, and have energy and space in your life? We’d love you to join our team and become a foster carer with us.

What we offer

As we are smaller than some of the other agencies we can offer a high level of personal, local support 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. You will receive sufficient fees and allowances so you don’t need to worry about money and can focus on caring for the children or young people we place with you and we put a great deal of effort into our matching process.

Become a foster carer in Scotland

We’re looking for warm, caring people who want to make a real difference. Become a foster carer with Action for Children and join our friendly and professional team.

We are looking for people who want to make a difference to a young person’s life. We promise to be there every step of the way – from 24 hour support, to training and you will get regular paid breaks to recharge your batteries.

We provide long term fostering for young people aged 5+. We aim to provide safe, secure and loving family environments so that the young person can experience a positive model of life for the future.

Our fostering service covers central Scotland, the Highlands and the Scottish Borders.

We offer our foster carers:

- Careful matching with a child or young person
- 24/7 on call support from an experienced fostering social worker
- Buddying opportunities to work with or support other foster carers – you will be part of a supportive and friendly fostering community
- Competitive fees, allowances for the young person and earned leave for our carers (contact us for more information)
- Specialist training and development opportunities
- Foster care support groups and social events
- From an early stage we’ll help you find the best service that is suited to you

All of our children and young people are different; therefore, we welcome enquiries from people who will bring different skills, knowledge and life experiences to our children and young people.

Long-term therapeutic fostering

We're looking for people who can give children a safe and loving home until they're ready to live independently. Many children may have experienced trauma or moved homes many times. Through our training, we will support you to give them a warm, nurturing environment.
We're looking for Short Breaks Carers

Our full time foster carers receive earned leave to provide them with the essential break to restore their batteries from the intense specialist caring they provide. Our short breaks foster carers provide this support to our full time foster carers. We are looking for people who are interested in providing a different kind of foster care experience for our young people in the form of short breaks.

Planned breaks for other foster carers

Planned breaks carers play a vital role in supporting our full-time foster carers and young people. You will get to know different young people, so if you are good at building relationships, this could be for you!

Do something life changing. Foster.

You could give vulnerable children a stable, loving home. If you're ready to find out more:
