Connects is Food Train’s newest service and is available to older people Scotland-wide.
Connects aims to connect any older person (65+) wishing a little extra practical or social support with a local volunteer eager to help in their local community.
To begin with, Connects is focusing on grocery shopping support, however over time we will be adding additional support services - so watch this space!
Our Connects shopping service will match you with a local volunteer who will contact you weekly (or less if wished) to collect your shopping list. They will then do your shopping and safely deliver at an agreed time, also helping you to put your shopping items away if necessary.
To access this service there is a £1 membership charge renewed annually and a £5 per shopping delivery charge to allow Food Train to cover our administration and volunteer expenses costs. Food Train deals with all payments, therefore no money should change hands between volunteer and customer.
