New EU Settlement Scheme Support for Feniks’s clients and vulnerable EU27 citizens in the Lothians
**N.B. We do NOT advice on the EU Family Permit**
We are happy to announce that Feniks Counselling, Personal Development and Support Services in partnership with the EU Citizens Rights Project – Scotland have received funds from the Home Office to support vulnerable members of the EU27 community in the Lothians in making applications for the new “settled status.”
What is “settled status”?
“Settled status” is a new immigration status for EU27 citizens and their family members. To apply, EU27 citizens need to complete three key steps – prove their identity, show that they live in the UK, and declare any criminal convictions. Applications need to be made online. All EU citizens and their family members who wish to continue living in the UK past December 2020 are required to apply. Despite the Brexit date being moved, the EU Settlement Scheme is already open.
What is our new service?
Our new support service will help some vulnerable EU27 citizens facing multiple barriers in accessing the scheme. Groups at risk of not applying include those with mental health issues, survivors of domestic abuse, elderly experiencing a language barrier or digital exclusion, and others. Our project will benefit predominantly but not exclusively Polish nationals in Edinburgh and the Lothians, starting with eligible Feniks clients.
We will provide free one-to-one registration sessions with digital support in Polish, as well as awareness-raising sessions with employers wishing to proactively support their EU27 staff.
If you are an employer in the Lothians and you are interested in booking one of our free awareness-raising sessions about the #EUSS scheme, please get in touch with dorota.peszkowska@feniks.org.uk.
The new service is delivered thanks to the EUSS grant funded by the Home Office. The Home Office has made available £9 million to 57 organisations across the UK to assist certain groups of EU27 citizens in the application process. More details about our new service will follow here soon.
