information SERVICE DETAILS

Edinburgh Together brings the passion, skills and expertise of Barnado’s Scotland, Children 1st and Canongate Youth to supporting children and young people aged 0-18 and their families. Working together with families, communities and The City of Edinburgh Council to make Edinburgh a truly child-friendly city Together to listen

Formed in 2018 Edinburgh Together is a consortium of Children 1st, Barnardo’s & Canongate Youth, operating on behalf of City of Edinburgh Council to provide intensive support to children, young people & their families.

In 2021 our remit changed to emphasise intensive family support so we no longer provide previous services like in-school support, activity-based provision or befriending.

Support targets children/ young people most at risk of experiences known to have a sustained impact on wellbeing including (but not exclusive to): harm from others; family breakdown; health harming behaviours; exclusion from education.

Support is designed with families to achieve agreed goals and remains as long as necessary to achieve meaningful change.

Referrals are made by the named person to CEC’s Additional Support Access Point (ASAP) screening group at cf.asap@edinburgh.gov.uk

Referrals should include a recent multi agency meeting minute (eg CPM) & Assessment of Need. It may be helpful to include further detail of support sought plus any additional insight into unmet needs or risks for the child not in existing paperwork.

Services are provided by partners based upon the referred child’s age.

If the child/ young person is:

- Up to 7: Children 1st
- 8 to 14: Barnardo’s
- 14+: Canongate Youth if on the roll of James Gillespie’s High or St Thomas of Aquin’s RC High. Barnardo’s support in other areas
