information SERVICE DETAILS

Belong to the first and youngest Section in the Scouting family. Young people can join Beaver Scouts in the three months leading up to their sixth birthday. They can move to the next Section, Cub Scouts, between eight and eight years six months.

Easily recognised by their distinctive turquoise sweatshirts, Beaver Scouts enjoy making friends, playing games, going on visits and helping others. They usually meet together once a week in a Beaver Scout Colony.

Some Beaver Scout Colonies also organise Sleepovers. These are often the first time a young person spends a night away from home. They take place in suitable buildings, often Scout centres.

We have two beaver colonies at Cramond:

Monday Night Beavers

Meeting Place: Upper Hall
Meeting Time: 6:15pm - 7:15pm
Beaver Leader: Irene Campbell

Friday Night Beavers

Meeting Place: Upper Hall
Meeting Time: 6:00pm - 7:00pm
Beaver Leader: Gordon McKirdy

Suitable for ages 6 - 8 years

Fees...

Each group charges a fee (called subscriptions or subs) to cover the costs of running regular meetings. This covers venue hire, insurances and materials for activities. There're sometimes extra charges for special activities, camps and events. We try to keep our subs as low as possible. so that anyone can come to Scouts. If you need help paying subs, please speak to your leader.

For further information and / or register your child, please get in touch at cramondscouts@gmail.com / 82nd@craigalmond.org.uk.

Waiting lists...

Waiting lists for both colonies: waitinglist@cramond-scouts.org.uk. The waiting list works as follows:

- Children under five are recorded, but are not on the list
- At age five, children who have been recorded are added to the tail of the list
- Children joining the list aged over five are immediately added to the tail of the list

When a space in Monday or Friday Beavers becomes free, we work down the list from the head end to find the first child who is over six. If you have expressed a preference for just Monday or just Friday, we'll skip over your child if they don't match. We email or call you to check you still want the place, and then your child joins either Monday or Friday Beavers
