information DESCRIPTION

The Society of Recorder Players (SRP), which was established over eighty years ago, has a membership of over 1200 throughout Great Britain and Ireland and the wider world, and is one of the largest societies dedicated to promoting recorder music-making.

The SRP brings together recorder players of all ages all over the UK.

The Society of Recorder Players promotes the study, practice and appreciation of the recorder.

Much of the SRP’s activity takes place within local branches. The SRP has over 50 branches across the British Isles.

Most branches meet monthly, and in some cases more often, for playing sessions. These meetings are an excellent opportunity to get together with fellow players and learn about the recorder, its music, opportunities to play in small groups, courses, etc.

Some branches are conducted by a Musical Director, some by members of the branch, some by visiting conductors, and most branches use some combination of the three.
