Harmeny School

Harmeny Education Trust Limited is a charitable organisation, providing a range of high-quality services in the areas of care, education, outdoor learning and staff development.

Harmeny is a well-established Scottish charity which provides residential, day and community-based education and social work services to children who exhibit social, emotional and behavioural difficulties and their families. Through additional projects in training and research we hope to increase knowledge and skills in the pursuit of excellence in practice.

At Harmeny, we believe that every child has the right to grow up within a secure, nurturing and protective environment which is best provided within the structures of family and community. Our aim is to help vulnerable children to address and overcome disadvantage in their lives, and to enable them to live in families and local communities, and to go to school within the community.

Our core service – Harmeny School – offers specialist education services, both on a day and all year round residential basis, for children aged 5 to 14. In addition, we are looking to develop services for young people beyond the age of 14.

As a grant-aided special school, we work with children with complex social, emotional and behavioural needs. We provide services on both a national and regional basis, with children being referred by local authorities throughout the whole of Scotland. The school has capacity for thirty-six children.
