DESCRIPTION
Dynamic Earth is a science centre and visitor attraction that engages people of all ages, backgrounds and identities with the story of the Earth. Our aim is to be accessible, entertaining and informative, encouraging lifelong learning and providing inspirational experiences. Topical and relevant science is explored in an interactive way to promote experiential learning.
Our Community Learning Programme aims to remove barriers and increase accessibility to achieve wider participation from underrepresented groups. Many different groups have been involved in the programme, varying in their location, their focus and their identity across a variety of engagement types.
Science centres play an important role in improving skills, knowledge and enthusiasm for science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM). We strive to provide individuals and groups the experiences necessary to embed these attributes within peoples' ongoing learning.
Some of the ways we engage with community groups are through:
- Subsidised visits
- Tailored workshops: arts and crafts, storytelling, literacy, numeracy, sensory and challenges
- Bespoke programmes: multiple workshops with a focus on student led discovery
- Events: celebration, feedback and discussions, seasonal, social, training
- Outreach
