Gam-Anon is a fellowship of men and women who are husbands, wives, relatives or close friends who have been affected by the gambling problem. If you are seeking a solution for living with this problem, we would like you to feel that we understand, as perhaps few can. We too are familiar with worry and sleepless nights and promises made only to be broken. Our thinking had become confused and unreasonable.
These meetings are specifically for the friends and families of compulsive gamblers.
Our meetings are for anyone who has been affected by a loved one’s gambling problem. We have been where you are now. By sharing in our rooms you will find that you are not alone!
A Gam- Anon meeting is seperate from a GA meeting. You will not be with your spouse, son, daughter, friend or whomever the gambler is.
Please do not feel intimidated when coming to your first meeting. You will be greeted with smiles and a helping hand to show you where you need to be.
The meetings allow you to talk to people who have been or are in your position. They will offer support, help, advice and confidentiality. What is said within the meeting stays within the meeting. If you are not too sure what to do then phone the helpline and they will put you in contact with someone.
GamAnon and GA meetings are usually held on the same nights but separate rooms. What's said in each is kept confidential so members don’t need to worry about sharing their problems or concerns.
Within the Charteris Centre meetings are on Thursdays between 7:00pm and 9:00pm.
