EARS has been providing independent advocacy to older people for over 13 years in Edinburgh and the Lothians. We still provide advocacy to any older person, in Mid, East and West Lothian, who would benefit from independent advocacy support.

Below are some specific examples of situations in which we have supported and assisted older people:

- When Moving into a Residential Care Home
- Advocacy When A Care Residential Home Closes
- Advocacy in Sheltered/Amenity Housing
- Advocacy In Delayed Discharge Situations

EARS independent advocate can support you to speak up or represent your wishes if you are

An older person (over 60) in hospital, residential care or in the community

AND

- Living in a Residential Care Home (Local Authority or Private)
- Living in Sheltered/Amenity Housing or Supported Accommodation
- Living in the community and getting a service/help from social work, health or other care professionals
- In hospital in a delayed discharge bed on a Continuing Care ward
- Attending a Day Centre
- Being assessed for services
- In an Acute Stroke Unit or Rehabilitation Stroke Unit or in the community
- Being assessed by mental health/psychiatric service(s) or having treatment in a Psychiatric Hospital/Ward
