DESCRIPTION
St Cuthbert’s is a church within the Diocese of Edinburgh of the Scottish Episcopal Church. The Scottish Episcopal Church is a member of the Anglican Communion.
St Cuthbert’s serves Colinton and also reaches out into neighbouring communities. It endeavours to be a community in which all are encouraged to participate in worshipping God and serving the wider community. It welcomes those who are doubters and sceptics as well as those who are committed in faith, and has a particular concern for those who have been hurt by their experiences of life.
ABOUT US
At the heart of our identity in St.Cuthbert’s is the idea that we are active in the local community, engaging with local residents, amenities and services. Our life together as a worshipping community is sustained by sharing in different types of worship throughout the week, as demonstrated by some of the groups, Shalom, Open Forum and the Sunday School, who lead services from time to time.
Our outreach includes supporting a monthly service in two of the local nursing homes, regular contributions to a local food bank and weekly volunteering at the Verandah Tearoom in the Royal Edinburgh Hospital.
We are always pleased to greet visitors and to respond to anyone interested in finding out more about the life of our Church.
Whoever you are, new to the area or to our Church, on holiday, visiting friends or wishing to try something different you will be made most welcome.
If you wish, join us at any of our services and stay for coffee after the 10:30am service on Sunday and Wednesday for a chat.
If you wish to become a part of our church life there are lots of activities and groups you can get involved in.
