information DESCRIPTION

Leith Community Archers began with a community showing of the film Brave, along with a trial archery session back in February 2013. Around 100 people attended the event.

This was organised by Inspiring Leith part of a new community project across Scotland called Link Up run by Inspiring Scotland and hosted by Bethany Christian Trust in Leith. The aim was to build community around activities and see people gaining and sharing skills.

The club achieved SCIO status (SC045559), breaking away from Inspiring Scotland to run as an independent charity and is managed by a group of volunteer coaches and regular attendees.

The aims and objectives of the Club is to

‘The advancement of public participation in sport’.
‘The provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended’.
The club has also adopted a strong sense of community awareness and aims to reduce the effects of poverty and strenghen community bonding and equality.

The club is run by a group of volunteer coaches and regular attendees, voted into position at the annual AGM to lead the direction of the club.

We are part of Archery GB and Archery Scotland and our focus is on indoor archery using Recurve bows.

We have three sessions on Thursday evenings during term at Leith Academy school, the first two are family sessions followed by an adult session.
